The Xbox 360, the Nintendo Wii or the Playstation 3 – what are the specs and what can they really do...?

Many people are drawn to one camp – be it Xbox, Playstation or Nintendo and religiously stick to their camp of choice, no matter what.

Personally I think it just prevents you from enjoying the variety and brilliance the collective consoles offer.

For example Nintendo has, in my opinion, the best action/puzzle adventure game in the form of Zelda...

Playstation has some wonderful titles like Devil May Cry, God of War or Metal Gear and...

Xbox has the best online games ever – Halo2 for example – it is still going strong, even with Xbox360 owners – which speaks volumes.

Ever since my first console (Sega Master System) I have been a gaming addict. I have owned, in fact I still own:

- A Sega - Master System, Mega Drive and Saturn
- A Nintendo SuperNes, N64, Game Cube (still trying to get hold of a Wii)
- A Playstation 1 and 2
- An Xbox and Xbox 360

But what do I think about the latest batch of next-gen consoles – the 360, Playstation 3 and the Nintendo Wii.

All the next-gen consoles are amazing and I would love to own any one of them.

It really boils down to how much cash you have and what you want from your machine - unrivaled online gaming and excellent all round specs with the 360, the most powerful games console ever created with the PS3 or innovative fun and enjoyment with friends and family on the Wii.

If you’re looking to buy only one console I have to recommend the Xbox360, despite the PS3’s high specs and the Wii’s revolutionary gaming, in my opinion pure gaming enjoyment is found through online gaming and Xbox Live currently offers the best of the bunch.

Well, the 360 is slightly more expensive than the Wii but half the price of the PS3. The 360 has better specs than the Wii but falls just short of the PS3.

Overall every machine is excellent and a great next-gen fun, but deciding which console is right for you depends on what you want it for and how much cash you have.

Personally the 360 has so many great games, great graphics, great sound, great entertainment possibilities, the best online experience and all in all the best longevity – that these factors easily make it my most worthwhile investment and...

...my choice for the best games console, moving onto the others as they fall in price.
